Band Member Profile: Richard Lailey

Nickname:
Slick / Keys / Little Richard.

Instrument(s) played:
Synthesiser Keyboard (Piano, Sax, Violin, Distortion Guitar, etc), Acoustic Guitar, Flute and Vocals.  However, I have a wide collection of instruments, some unusual and have played them all in secret…..

Favourite band(s) and musician(s):
The Point of No Return, Pink Floyd, 1000 other bands and The Point of No Return.

Favourite type(s) of music:
Rock, Synth Trance, Jazz Blues and most other genres for a limited attention span.

First live concert:
Not sure who they were, but it was at Glastonbury.  Come to think of it, I can’t remember any of the bands back then…..

Best show attended and why:
The Point of No Return in the early Harewoodstock gigs, observing Murf, our lead singer, consume a bottle of Smirnoff before performing.

Most memorable musical experience and why:
Our first gig at the wedding of our former Rhythm Guitarist, so nervous walking towards the stage and thinking that this is the point of no return.  So relieved after finishing our first live song without mistakes and then the unexpected happened – the audience clapped and cheered!  Wow, what a moment!

Most embarrassing experience:
Wandering the streets, stark naked, in Australia, shouting for help, thinking my friends had all drowned at sea.  All the families came out of their houses, gone midnight and then my friends turned up, fully-clothed.  Eek, gosh, I don’t want to think of that right now!

Hobbies:
Any device that can be connected with a wire, any electronic gizmo that doesn’t need a wire, wires by themselves (I have several locations around the house where I store them), badminton, cars, home automation and programming my synthesiser.

Number one ambition:
To automate everything possible in the home.
